John of Salisbury witnessed the assassination of Thomas à Beckett, then became the Bishop of Chartres, the position which he held until his death. Colophon reads: "Iohannis salisberiensis / policraticus de nugis curialium & vestigijs philosophorum / in octo partitus libros partiales: finitur. Curauit imprimi honestus vir Constantinus fradin bibliopola Anno dñi M. ccccc. &. xiij. Extrema manus apposita fuit eodÄ“ anno. xvij Kalendas Maij". Moderate binding wear and soiling; leaves dampstained, toned, occasional annotations in an early hand, some soiling; good.
